Disk maintenance is required in system to clean up the temporary files, cashed data, unwanted utilities, etc. Different systems has different utilities available to perform the clean up and repair works.

RAID( Redundant array of independent disks) allows the user to recover after a single failure of the windows system by the microsoft. It does not allow the hard disk to recover after multiple failures of the hard disk. The hardware based raid is more powerful tool than the software based one.

Some of the RAID models you can find in windows software include RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 5.
