Research mobile OS market share. Provide historical data on market share from the different mobile OS providers. If you were to develop a mobile app today, what market would you target? Why?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Here are the statistics of the different mobile OS present in the market today.

Android 76.23%
iOS 22.17%
KaiOS 0.59%
Unknown 0.26%
Samsung 0.21%
Windows 0.2%

So as we can see in the above case android is over 76% which means that there are many users who are already present on this OS. So they would be high probability of getting popularity.
But the idea of the app should be new as there are so many developers already working in the android.
Thus there is a huge opportunity due to lot of people currently using it but have to decide on the app idea.

And later on, when app gets the popularity we can anyday move to other OS such as iOS in order to target the audience over there as well.

That was a nice question to answer

Research suggests that it takes about 3,000 raw, unwritten ideas to produce a single, commercially-successful new product. To learn marketing lessons and convert potential failures to successes, we can analyze why new products fail and then study several failures in detail. Both marketing and nonmarketing factors contribute to new-product failures. Using the research results from several studies on new-product success and failure, we can identify critical marketing factors—which sometimes overlap—that often separate new-product winners and losers: 1. Insignificant point of...
