The chemical composition of soil and rock varies throughout the world. How is this related to the susceptibility of each location to the detrimental effects of acid rain and what specific chemical species or components need to be present in soil to counteract the effect of acid rain ?

Answer #1

The acid rain is a very serious issue which has detrimental effects all over the world

But the composition of soil is different all over the world and acid rain affects different types of soil differently.

In general acid rain has shown effects like killing insects as well as affecting aquatic life and many more adverse effects

But if the soil is alkaline in nature then it can counteract effects of acid rain

Such soil has components like

Potassium carbonate

Magnesium carbonate

Calcium carbonate

Etc

I hope this helps if you have any query or want more detailed explanation feel free to ask in the comments section below.
