Explanation of what happens when you add Ag to FeNCS2+
When Ag+ ions are added to the red FeSCN2+ ions, the colour disappears and a white precipitate og AgSCN forms.
Because the Fe+3 constantly reacts with the available SCN- in
solution to form the red complex ion FeSCN+2
Fe+3(aq) + SCN-(aq) --> FeSCN+2(aq)
as soon as the SCN- is all gone then no more FeSCN+2 will form and
the red color ofFeSCN+2 will disappear and that will be the
endpoint.
As the reaction proceeds the Fe+3 will be regenerated by reacting
with the Ag+
Ag+(aq) + FeSCN+2 --> AgSCN(s) + Fe+3(aq)
