Regarding its structure, what makes sodium benzoate soluble?
Solution :-
Sodium benzoate is the salt of the benzoic acid and NaOH
Sodium benzoate = C6H5COO- Na+
It is ionic species therefore it is polar and as we know the polar compounds are soluble in polar solvents therefore water which is polar solvent so the sodium benzoate gets easily dissolve in water because of the ionic species that is charged ions of the conjugate base and and Na+ ions.
Na+ ions are solvated by oxygen of the water molecule which is having partial negative charge and C6HCOO- ions are solvated by the hydrogens of the water moleucles which have partial positive charges.
