Question

Calculate the percent composition of NaHCO3.

Calculate the percent composition of NaHCO3.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Molecular mass of NaHCO3 = 84.0g

Mass of Na in the compound (NaHCO3) = 23.0g ( Because atomic mass of Na = 23 and there is one Na atom in the compound)

percentage of Na = (23 / 84 ) X 100 = 27.38%

Mass of H in the compound (NaHCO3) = (1 / 84.0) X 100 = 1.19%

Mass of C in the compound (NaHCO3) = (12 / 84 ) X 100 = 14.28%

Mass of O in the compound (NaHCO3) = (48/84) X 100 = 57.14%

3 O atoms are prent in the compound

mass of Oxygen in the compond = 3 X 16 = 48g
