It has a melting point of 70 °C and physically looks like a powder.

In the case of cetyl alcohol, also known as 1-hexadecanol and palmityl alcohol, is a fatty alcohol with the formula CH₃(CH₂)₁₅OH. At room temperature, cetyl alcohol takes the form of a waxy white solid or flakes.

When the two of these compound are mixted together, the will look as if they were melted, because cetyl alcohol has a low melting point (48 °C).
