Answer #1

"Like dissove like' is the thumb rule in decididing the solubility of a solute in a sovent

This means that polar/ionic compounds are soluble in polar solvents like water and nonpolar compounds are soluble in nonpolar solvents like benzene CCl4 etc

N2, Mineral oil and benzene are nonpolar. Hence they are insoluble in water

KI is an ionic compound and CH3COCH3 is polar .So both are soluble in water

The solubility of KI in water is due to ion-dipole interaction whereas the solubility of acetone in water is due to dipole- dipole interaction as well as Hydrogen bond formation between acetone and water moleule.

THE FIRST SHOCK IS TO THE IS CURVE, THE SECOND SHOCK IS A ‘LM’ SHOCK. AGAIN, WE CONSIDER THESE SHOCKS SEPARATELY SO THAT AFTER YOU COMPLETE SCENARIO 1 (THE IS SHOCK), WE GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL CONDITIONS AND CONSIDER THE SECOND SCENARIO WHICH IS THE ‘LM’ SHOCK. Consider the...
