Answer #1

Accuracy of the balance is difficult to find. And hence, in order to overcome the problem of inaccurate readings due to lack of calibration or miscalibration, chemists designed a method called WEIGHING BY DIFFERENCE. It takes into account the high probability that a balance may be “off “ by several grams or a fraction of a gram. It does not matter how far off your balance is if you weigh by difference.

Thus, To avoid the errors in mass due to the use of balances that are not calibrated, one should weigh by a method called: WEIGHING BY DIFFERENCE.

Forensic scientists use sensitive equipment to analyze evidence which needs to be calibrated on a regular basis. Suppose 500 forensic scientists each use a certain machine of the same type. Due to a manufactures error, these machines have been installed with a part which has a failure rate of 89% after 600 hours. Because there are 500 machines, checking all 500 of these machines is costly, therefore a sample of 20 machines is taken and the hours of operation are...

1. Calculate F1, the force on the baby due to Mars. Mars has a mass M1 = 6.23x1023kg, and when it is at opposition, it is at r1 = 3.78x1011m distance. 2. Calculate F2, the force on the baby due to the doctor. A reasonable mass would be M2 = 65 kg, and the distance would be small, r2 = 1m. 3.
