a gas sample contains 4.00g CH4 and 2.00g of He. what is the volume of the sample at STP?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

moles of CH4 = mass / molar mass

                       = 4.00 / 16

                       = 0.25

moles of He = 2/ 4 = 0.5

total moles = 0.25 + 0.5 = 0.74

T = 273 K

P = 1 atm

P V = n R T

1 x V = 0.75 x 0.0821 x 273

V = 16.8 L

volume of the samole = 16.8 L
