gor glass ceramics making using a sintering process why we don't have tonadd nucleation agents?

Answer #1

Glass-ceramics are usually produced in two steps: First, a glass-manufacturing process which formed glass which is cooled down and reheated in a second step. In this heat treatment which partly crystallizes glass.

In most of the cases nucleation agents are added to the base composition of the glass-ceramic. These nucleation agents helps in control the crystallization process. Because there is usually no pressing and sintering in case of glass-ceramics but unlike sintered ceramics which do not have pores thus we don't add nucleation agent in case of glass cermaics and making use of sintering process.

Making music: If you have a series of identical glass bottles, with varying amounts of water in them, you can play musical notes by either striking the bottles with a spoon or blowing across the open tops of the bottles. When you change the water levels in the bottles, you will get a different change in the frequency of the note produced depending on which of the two methods you use to produce it.
