Rate determining step:

Generally chemical reactions occur in more than one step or in multiple steps.In the multiple steps of reaction one of the step is responsible for the rate of a chemical reaction, that step is called as rate determining step.

Definition: The slowest step in the chemical reaction which determines the rate of a chemical reaction is called as rate determining step.

Generally fast steps in a chemical reaction are highly impossible to measure the rate. so, slow step is the rate deteriming step.
