Le Chatlier's Principle: Influence of Temperature
O2(g) + Cl2(g) ⇌ 2ClO(g)
The At 500. K the above reaction has [O2]e = 0.131 M, [Cl2]e = 0.817 M and [ClO]e = 0.322 M.
a) What will the equilibrium constant be at 510. K if the ΔHrxn° = 101 kJ/mol?
b) At 510. K, what will the concentration of all three gases be if [O2]i = [Cl2]i = 0.550 M
le Chatelier's Principal: It states that if a constraint (such as a change in pressure, temperature, or concentration) is applied to a system in equilibrium, the equilibrium will shift so as to tend to counteract the effect of the constraint or tends to undo the effect of the change imposed.
Effect of Temperature: The change of Temperature affects the State of Equillibrium only for those reactions which are either exothermic or Endothermic.
