Answer #1

Windbreak plants accomplish an special function by covering an area from the harmful effects of wind, it reduces the speed of the wind. The windbreak barrier shall be planted facing the wind direction. The area covered by the windbreak goes 5 times the height of the windbreak. In this case our windbreak is 30 feet, so the coverage goes up to 150 feet, but they most be located at least 50 feet away from any bulding. So the house can locate either at 50 feet away from the barrier or around 150 foot away, or every distance in between, as long as it doesn't exceeeds the mamaximum 150 feet and minimum 50.

Now, in the southeast the winds tend to go from west to east in direction to the Atlantic ocean, so the diagram is:

say that, during a storm, you can estimate how far away the storm is by counting the number seconds between lightening and thunder, and that every second represents another mile away. 1- The speed of light is approximately 2.98*10^8 m/s . Rewrite this (scientific notation) as a regular number (not scientific notation). 2- There are 1,609 meters in a mile. If the storm is one mile away, how long will it take for the light from the lightening to reach...
