Ans. Pribnow box driven promoters do not contain TATA boxes or BREs.
Pribnow box is a sequence of six nucleotides i.e. TATAAT. This is a consensus sequence constituting an essential part of promoter for transcription of DNA in case of bacteria. It is also referred to as -10 sequence since this sequence lies nearly -10 base pairs upstream from the +1 site (transcription start site). The function of pribnow box is similar to TATA box which is present in eukaryotic organisms and archae in the sense that TATAAT box is ocuring in promoter of bacteria and is recognized by RNA Polymersae to start transcription but in case of eukaryotic organisms and archae, TATA box is present instead of TATAAT. As such, pribnow box driven promoter do not contain TATA boxes or BREs (a sequence working in conjunction with TATA box),
