Answer #1

Ans. Pribnow box driven promoters do not contain TATA boxes or BREs.

Pribnow box is a sequence of six nucleotides i.e. TATAAT. This is a consensus sequence constituting an essential part of promoter for transcription of DNA in case of bacteria. It is also referred to as -10 sequence since this sequence lies nearly -10 base pairs upstream from the +1 site (transcription start site). The function of pribnow box is similar to TATA box which is present in eukaryotic organisms and archae in the sense that TATAAT box is ocuring in promoter of bacteria and is recognized by RNA Polymersae to start transcription but in case of eukaryotic organisms and archae, TATA box is present instead of TATAAT. As such, pribnow box driven promoter do not contain TATA boxes or BREs (a sequence working in conjunction with TATA box),

Eukaryotic promoters generally contain three regions: the core promoter, the regulatory promoter, and distant sequences. Both the regulatory promoter and distant sequences usually contain DNA sequences called enhancers. The function of the enhancers is to bind activator proteins. Once they are bound, what is the function of the activators? (2) Some distant enhancer sequences can be thousands of bases away from the core promoter. How are the activator proteins they bind able to influence the core promoter at such distances?...

Aja's favorite cereal is running a promotion that says 1-in-4 boxes of the cereal contain a prize. Suppose that Aja is going to buy 5 boxes of this cereal, and let X represent the number of prizes she wins in these boxes. Assume that these boxes represent a random sample, and assume that prizes are independent between boxes. What is the probability that she wins at most 1 prize in the 5 boxes?

Q3: A nutritionist believes that 12-ounce boxes of cereal should contain an average of 1.2 ounces of bran. She suspects that a popular cereal has a different mean bran content. She carefully analyzes the contents of a random sample of twenty 12-ounce boxes of the cereal and finds that the mean bran content is 1.16 ounces. It is known that the standard deviation of the bran content of all such boxes of cereal is 0.08. Do the data provide sufficient...
