The species diversity of plants (22 per cent) is much less than that of animals (72 per cent). What could be the explanations to how animals achieved greater diversification?

Species diversity of plants is less than the animal diversity because of greater dispersal of the animal species and their higher survival rate. The animals possess the nervous system, which better regulate and coordinate their activities, it plays a key role in escape from the predators. Their adaptive responses ensure their survival in various environmental conditions. So, more number of animal species were evolved than the plants. Plants does not contain the nervous system, they are not mobile, so they respond in a different way towards the environmental stimuli
