while T lymphocytes are maturing, each of them develops one of two set of proteins on their cell surface. these proteins are know as _ and_

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans ) The T- cells develop or express one out of the two set of proteins known as CD4 and CD8 on maturation. This protein is called coreceptor. On maturation of T cells, T cell receptors (TCR) are expressed on T cell surface called coreceptors. A nature T cell can have either CD4 or CD8(a two chain molecule). These are involved in signal transduction after the binding of antigen to TCR. CD4 binds selectively to MHC class II and CD8 to MHC class I molecules.

There is evidence that cytotoxic T lymphocytes (T cells) participate in controlling tumor growth and that they can be harnessed to use the body's immune system to treat cancer. One study investigated the use of a T cell‑engaging antibody, blinatumomab, to recruit T cells to control tumor growth. Given are the T cell counts (1000 per microliter) at baseline (beginning of the study) and after 20 days on blinatumomab for six subjects in the study. The difference, after 20 days...

Imagine you are given your set of tiles as a string, like "quijibo", and you are given another string to test, like "jib". Write a method called canSpell that takes two strings and checks whether the set...

1. a. It’s estimated that each human somatic cell contains two copies (one on each homologous chromosome) of about 21,000 genes. If you took a close look at one of these (differentiated cells), would you expect all copies of these 21,000 genes to be actively making proteins at any one time?  If you say yes, explain why (generally) it would be advantageous for a cell to actively express all of its genes.  If you say no, explain why (generally) it would be...
