Do all viruses go into the lysogenic and lytic cycles or is that only viruses that infect bacteria?
If all do, how do the cycles differ between bacterial viruses and other types?
Viruses which is infecting bacteria known as phage virus and they will have lysogenic or lytic cycle. When virus follow the lytic cycle they will get attached into the bacteria, insert only the viral DNA into the host bacteria. These viral DNA get replicated inside bacteriam irrespective of bacterial DNA. The phage virus which have the lytic cycle is called virulant phage.
On the hand, in lysogenic cycle the inserted viral DNA get replicated only when the host DNA is get replicated. All the proteins which takes part in the replciation of host cell also takes part in viral DNA replciation. Bacteriophage like E.coli follow the lysogenic cycle.
