1. The data generated from the Bogalusa study show a correlation between atherosclerosis and risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Does this mean that everyone with a risk factor (for example, high BMI) will develop atherosclerosis? Explain your answer.
2. Glucagon is released as part of the response to a drop in body temperature. Why do you think this happens?
1) It does not mean that everyone with any one of a risk factor will develop the disease. But researchers reported that if there is more than one risk factors the rate of prevalence of disease will be increased. For example male are prone to CVD than female and even if we change the lifestyle that may save the persons developing the disease like food habits and physical exercise. Researches reported that the possibility for developing disease is more in persons with high BMI as their Blood pressure increases. Almost 75% of obese may get CVD but not all.
2) Hypoglycemia leads to hypothermia that is severe drop in blood glucose level. This leads to sudden fall in insulin sensitivity and secretion. So the release of glucagon is induced to raise theblood glucose level.
