Define the following terms:
(a) broad sense heritability
(b) narrow sense heritability
(c) response to selection
(d) selection differential.
1. Broad sense hertabilaty- It is the ratio of the total genetic variance to the total of the phenotypic variance.
The formula for the broad sense variability is :-
H2=Vg/Vp
Where H is the broad sense heritability, Vg is the total genetic variance and Vp is the total phenotypic variance
2. Narrow sense heritability- It is fraction of the additive genetic variance to the total phenotypic variances.
3. Response to Selection- The selection response means how much you gain you make at the time of the mating the selected parents. The response to selection can be defined as the multiplication the heriability by the selection differential.
4. Selection differential- It is the base population difference between the mean and the mean of the selected parents.
