The Stomach wall composed of 4 layers. From inward to out ward they are 1. Gastric mucosa, 2. Submucosa, 3. Muscular Coat, 4. Serosa.
The function of stomach wall are as follows :
1. The Chief cells of gastric mucosa secrete Pepsinogen 1 & Pepsinogen 2. Which are the proenzyme. They give rise to pepsin which is the major protein splitting enzyme of humans.
2. Parital Cells of gastric mucosa secrete HCL and other intrinsic factors.
3. Mucus cells & Surface foveiar cells of gastric mucosa secrete soluble and insoluble mucus, which forms a protective layer at the inner surface of the stomach.
4. G cells of stomach mucosa secrete Gastrin hormone.
5. The Myenteric & Meissner's plexus which are located in the Submucosa helps to control the motility of the stomach.
6. The serous coat of the stomach wall, covers the entire organ, it is a part of peritoneum.
