Describe the mechanisms that regulate myocardial contraction and relaxation through alterations in calcium.

physiology

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Calcium cycle plays crucial role in Muscle contraction and relaxation. When stimulus from the brain for Muscle contraction came, then, Calcium channels present on the Sarcoplasmic Reticulum opens and flooded the Ca+2 ions into sarcoplasm. These elevated Ca+2 levels, promotes contraction of Myofilaments that leads to Muscle contraction. During relaxed state the Ca+2 levels present in the Sarcoplasm down by return to Sarcoplasmic reticulum by a pumping mechanism. Due to this myocardial muscles relaxed
