what is the purpose of the fermentation lab in yeast using fruit juice? what would be the hypothesis, the dependent variable, and the independent variable?
Fermentation is a process which produces Alcohol and Co2 in the yeast. It is anaerobic respiration performed by yeast in the absence of O2 in atmosphere. So yeast fermentation experiment is always to prove that ethyl alcohol and CO2 are produced. CO2 production can be observed as the bubbles coming out from the fruit juice.
The rate of fermentation also can be studied by measuring number of bubbles produced in the fruit juice. Faster is the anaerobic respiration, more CO2 bubbles are produced.
The hypothesis would be Yeast libeates CO2 gas by fermentation with the fruit juice.
Independent variable is fruit juice. Dependant variable is CO2 bubbles produced by fermentation.
