Viruses that do not have envelope made up of lipids , some carbohydrates and few proteins are killed by detergents. Thus is because the, lipids membranes are teared apart by the detergent actuvity of micelle formation. Thus, the virus is no longer able to fuse it's envelope to the Plasma membrane of animal and able to move into cell. And this, don not function at all, or having a weak capsid, they fall apart.
But, viruses without envelope, have outermost prptejn layer only made up of capsomeres. They are not effected by the detergents and they transfer only their genetic material to the ok nside the cell of the host.
