1. List the differences between the cells in Prophase I and Prophase II.
2. List the differences between the cells in Metaphase 1 and Metaphase II.
3. List the differences between the cells in Anaphase I and Anaphase II.
4. List the differences between the cells in Telophase I and Telophase II.
Question No 1: List the differences between the cells in Prophase I and Prophase II.
Answer :
i) Prophase I happens at the beginning of Meiosis I and Prophase II happens at the beginning of Meiosis II
ii) Before starting of Prophase I long interphase happens but In the case of prophase II there is no interphase, After telophase I the next is Prophase II
iii) In the case of prophase, I homologous chromosome occurs but in the case of prophase II there is no homologous chromosome
iv)In ProphaseI we see crossing over and formation of “Chiasmata” but this is not happening in prophase II
Question 2: List the differences between the cells in Metaphase 1 and Metaphase II.
Answer :
i)In the case of Metaphase I the "pairs of chromosome" are placed on the Metaphase plate but In the case of Metaphase II, only "chromosome" placed in the Metaphase plate.
ii)In the case of Metaphase, I spindle fiber is attached with two centromeres of every homologous chromosome , but in the case of Metaphase II spindle fiber attached with one centromere of every homologous chromosome
iii)Metaphase I plate is perpendicular to the plate of metaphase II
Question 3: List the differences between the cells in Anaphase I and Anaphase II.
Answer :
i) In the case of anaphase, I after chromosome separate to opposite pole sister chromatid retain together but in case of anaphase , II after chromosome separate to opposite pole centromere splits
ii)At the end of anaphase, I homologous chromosome move to every daughter cell , but in the case of anaphase, one sister chromatid is still present in every daughter cell
iii)In anaphase , I chromosomes are arranged around the equator of the spindle fiber but in case of anaphase , II chromosomes are arranged 90 degrees compared to anaphase I chromosome arrangement.
Question 4: List the differences between the cells in Telophase I and Telophase II.
Answer :
i)In the case of telophase, I homologous chromosome moved to the opposite pole then cell occurs but in the case of telophase, II sister chromatid moved to the opposite pole which tends to born of cell
ii)Every daughter nuclei formed in telophase, I with a single set of chromosome but in case of telophase, II formed with a single set of sister chromatids
iii) In the case of telophase, I two daughter cell formed, but in the case of telophase, II four daughter cells formed
