Plospholipase C hydrolyzes the bond between the glycerol moiety and the inositol-1,4,5-triphosphate. This results in the formation of Diacylglycerol (DAG) which remains bound to the membrane, and the IP3 (inositol-1,4,5-triphosphate) which is a secondary molecule free to move in the cytosol. IP3 causes activation of the calmodulin via calcium ions. This then causes the CaM-Kinase to get activated.

The pathway is nowhere related to the inactivation or inhibition of Phospholipase D (PLD)
