If you were using the quadrant streak plate method to plate a very dilute broth culture (with many fewer bacteria than the broth used for the plate pictured here), would you expect to see single, isolated colonies in quadrant 4 or quadrant 3? Explain your answer.
Single isolated colonies will be present in quadrant 4.
Streak plate method is used to get single isolated colonies from the broth culture.
The plate will be separated into 4 quadrants and 1 loop of culture will be taken and streaked at the first quadrant and from the end of 1st quadrant will streak the second quadrant and from the end of 2nd quadrant , we will streak the third quadrant and so on , in zigzag manner
Single isolated colonies will be observed in the final quadrant or fourth quadrant since less number of cells available to replicate in the last quadrant
