which would leave stomach more quickly low fat-low protein meal or high fat-high protein meal. explain why?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

ANSWER: In the stomach, carbohydrates spend the least time followed by the protein and the fats. Fat takes the longest time for emptying from the stomach. Hence the low fat low protein diet would leave the stomach quicker than the high fat high protein diet. It is because the bolus from the esophagus after entering into the stomach must be mechanically and chemically digested to a certain amount by the stomach. Protein digestion and lipid digestion starts in the stomach. Hence it takes time for those substance to get partially digest before entering into the duodenum.
