Before a marathon, an athlete should make these following changes in his diet-
1. He should start taking carbohydrates rich diet like bread,rice , chapatti etc and should includes fruits in diet. Carbohydrates are instant source of energy and serves as a fuel during the marathon.
2. He should also include protein in diet. Protein are very important for maintenance and repair of muscles. Eggs, fish, milk, pulses etc are rich source of protein. Muscle power is very important during marathon to provide strength and stamina during running.
3. An athlete should avoid oily and fatty food. Fatty food consumes high energy to get digested. Fats gets stored in body and makes individual obese and lazy.
4. An athlete should always remain hydrated. Water maintains body temperature and maintain body function. Water maintenance proper working of organ system.
