How can one patient have a radiologic procedure to diagnose a condition, while another has radiation treatment to destroy a tumor?

In the course of diagnosis of a condition, the radiation amount are minimal and the time of exposure is transient wchih does not cause the genetic material DNA damage to the healthy cells. If small damage would have occured, healthy cell repair them on their own and maintains the normal healthy cell constitution.

Where as in order to treat the cancer cells /tumor,the precise dose and focus of radaition been used.It targets the cancer cells which is highly proliferating ,though nearby cells also gets affected but at minimal.Maximum dose of the radiation are being used to kill or stop the divison of the tumor cells.The tumour cells have the altered cellular machinery and have lack of self repairing mechanism.
