one person said that isotonic solutions have concentration of .28 M while another says that the concentration of NaCl in an isotonic solution is .14M. How can this be true?

Answer #1

Isotonic solution meanes that that two solution have same osmotic pressure. Hence NaCl is strong electrolyte and give two ions in solution and osmotic pressre is a colligative proprety ie it depends on the no of ions present of solution. So first person cosider that ionisation (Na+ Cl -) second person did cont cosider that ionisation. Another thing can aslo happen that that two solution having different temparture have give sam osmotic pressure having double concentration .

I am having trouble creating a procedure to use to identify five unknown solutions we will be given in chem lab. The five solutions will be an acid, a base, a chloride salt, a nitrate salt, and a sodium salt. I have to come up with steps to determine which compound is in each category. Only one will be in each solution. Acid- HCl, HNO3, H2SO4 Base - NaOH, NH3, Na2S Chloride Salt - NaCl, BaCl2, CuCl Nitrate Salt -...

Part C A sucrose solution is prepared to a final concentration of 0.280 M . Convert this value into terms of g/L, molality, and mass % (molecular weight, MWsucrose = 342.296 g/mol ; density, ρsol′n = 1.02 g/mL ; mass of water, mwat = 924.2 g ). Note that the mass of solute is included in the density of the solution. Express the concentrations in grams per liter, molality, and mass percent to three significant figures separated by commas. George Washington University got rid of its SAT requirement, and applications soared 28 percent. This kind of jump is unprecedented, the school said. About 6,000 more students applied compared to the year before. It also saw a "significant" increase in applications from blacks, Hispanics, international students and those who would be the first in their family to go to college. That's what GW was hoping for when it started allowing applicants to opt out of submitting their standardized test scores...
