Immunity is the ability of an organism to resist or defend itself from the development of a disease. It is of two types-

1] Innate immunity - It is present from birth and is inherited from parents. It is non-sp[ecific

2] Acquired Immunity- It is not present from birth and is acquired during an individual's lifetime. It is pathogen specific, i.e. it has the ability to distinguish diverse types of foreign materials or specific antigens. It works by producing a primary response and a secondary response by the body.
