Summarize the digestion, absorption, and transport of lipids in the body.
ANSWER :
Lipids or fat digestion begins from stomach with the enzyme gastric lipase and ends in the duodenum where large fat molecules turn into small ones via action of bile salts of liver and after complete digestion with pancreatic lipase changes into fatty acids & glycerol.
Since, lipid molecules are non-polar they don't dissolve directly into blood stream hence they (cholesterol & triglycerides) packed with lipoproteins and convert into chylomicrons in small intestine then transport to portal vein and lymph. From where ultimately reaches to liver and further transported cells via blood circulation.
