it is characterized by both local and systemic effects

   C.
it is activated in lymph nodes

Answer #1

E. All of these events occur

EXPLANATION

Adaptive immunity is divided into cell mediated immunity and humoral immunity. Cell mediated immunity is taking place with the help of T cells and humoral immunity is taking place with the help of B cells. When APC present antigen to the naive T cell it gets subdivided and converted to Memory T cells. It has the ability to memorize the attack by the pathogen. So when the next attack by the same pathogen comes the memory T cells comes to play. Adaptive immunity has both local and systemic effects. It is activated in lymph nodes. In lymph nodes the neutrophils, macrophages and dendritic cells are present, they try to kill the pathogenic organism and try to activate adaptive immunity. As I have mentioned earlier Tcells take part in cell mediated immunity, which is a part of adaptive immunity.

Adaptive immunity has several features that distinguish it from innate immunity. Specificity in that each adaptive immune response is induced by a particular antigen, or surface feature that generates an antibody. An innate immune response might be stimulated by a PAMP, while an adaptive immune response is stimulated by a single feature of a bacteria. In addition, cells of adaptive immunity, B and T cells, are allowed to proliferate under certain conditions to mount a defense, this feature is clonality...
