BMI is the well known measurmeny of an individuals body fat content and has been debated over the years. Now, it has been clear that it can't considered as a very accurate method to determine the overall health of the individual. This is beacuse BMI doesn't able to distinguish between body fat and muscle mass, which tend to be heavier and can rank the more toned individual into overweight status, even if fat percentage is low. That's why it may not be apppropriate and valid for people with different ethinicities.

The white european and asian with same BMI can have different fat content .Asians can have a 4% higher total body fat.More importantly, south asian people will have high level of abdominal obesity which can shoot up the BMI measures as well.
