can you be a resident of two states? why or why not? this is for the purposes of filing taxes.

Answer #1

Yes you can be resident of 2 states..

But when you resident of 2 States things becomes complicated to manage and filling state taxes is complicated .

On the other hand if person is resident of only one state it is easier to file state tax and generally you can be full resident of only one state..so resident of 2 states at same time should be avoided..

If you are a resident of two states, you will likely end up paying more in state taxes than if you were a resident of just one, or a resident of one state and a non resident of another.

So you can be resident of 2 states but it should be avoided.
