I'm supposed to submit a video on the following problem for my math class.
A poll was taken in a high school senior classroom to find out how students in the class get to school. The modes they polled were walk, bike and drive. They found out that
13 students ride their bike to school.
10 students walk to school.
4 students walk and drive and bike to school.
4 students bike and walk.
9 drive and bike to school.
10 students drive and walk to school.
18 students walk or drive to school.
10 students don’t drive to school.
My professor requested the following:
In your video, you are to draw a Venn diagram that pictures this situation with cardinalities in all of the regions, explaining how you are finding the cardinalities you are putting in the regions.
-This is confusing for me so please help and include details on how
to go about the Venn diagram!! Thanks.
Use set theory to construct the Venn diagram.
let W=walk B=bike and D=drive
Then in set theory notation
To get the cardinality of each region you can use set theory formula which is written below but we think it is easier to use the diagram (picture) directly to get the cardinality of each region. It will take less time.
