pick any 5 different two digit numbers and calculate mean, median, iqr, range, and outlier if any.

Answer #1

5 different 2 digit numbers chosen: 22, 67, 98, 14, 80

(i) Mean is given by:

(ii) Median:

Arrange numbers in ascending order: 14,22,67,80,98

Median = (5 + 1)/2th item = 3rd item = 67

(iii) IQR:

Bottom half:

14,22

Middle of these numbers = (14+22)/2 = 18

So,

First Quartile = Q1 = 18

Upper Half:

80, 98

Middle of these numbers = (80 +98)/2 =89

So,

Third Quartile = Q3 = 89

Inter Quartile Range = IQR = Q3 - Q1 = 89 - 18 = 71

(iv)

Range = Maximum - Minimum = 98 - 14 = 84

(v)

Lower Fence = Q1 - (1,5 X IQR) = 18 - (1.5 X 71) = 18 - 106.5 = - 88.5

Upper Fence = Q3 + (1,5 X IQR) = 89 + (1.5 X 71) = 89 + 106.5 = 195.5

Since no values are outside fence:
No outlier
