Answer #1

Always look for mean median and mode.

If information is not skewed, but is symmetric around its central tendency the mean, median, and mode are all the same value.

But in a skewed distribution, the mean, median, and mode are all different values.

-SKEWED to RIGHT or POSITIVE skewed

In this situation, the mean and the median are both greater than the mode

Most of the time for data skewed to the right, the mean will be greater than the median.

Always: mean greater than the mode

Always: median greater than the mode

Most of the time: mean greater than median

-SKEWED to the LEFT or Negatively skewed

In this situation, the mean and the median are both less than the mode.

Most of the time, the mean will be less than the median.

mean less than the mode-always

median less than the mode-always

Most of the time: mean less than median
