For a certain candy, 45% of the candies are blue and the rest are other colors. If 60 candies are chosen at random, what is the probability that more than 30 of them will be blue?
Solution :
Given that,
Using binomial distribution,
= n * p = 60 * 0.45 = 27
= n * p * q = 60 * 0.45 * 0.55 = 3.85357
Using continuity correction ,
P(x > 30.5) = 1 - P(x < 30.5)
= 1 - P((x - ) / < (30.5 - 27) / 3.85357)
= 1 - P(z < 0.91)
= 0.1814
Probability = 0.1814
