When there are more than two mutually exclusive outcomes of a trial then the experiment conducted on such a trials are called multinomial experiment.

What conditions are necessary to use the chi-square goodness-of-fit test?

1 ) The expected frequencies of each cell must be grater than or equal to 5

Because without this condition the distribution of the test statistic is nothi-square.

Also 2) there are two types of categorical variables.

3) Samples taken from a population randomly.
