Answer #1

Psychological treatment of depression would include counselling and therapy such a s cognitive behaviour therapy and other therapies such as psychotherapy to bring about a change in thoughts and beliefs that cause depression. However with this medications are prescribed for the biological treatment and SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors). These medications help to either increase or decrease the serotonin levels which enhance the mood. In most cases medication is required along with psychotherapy for clients to understand the importance of medication and counselling that go hand in hand.Medication is usually given for a specific period of time till there is an improvement in the condition and stability in mood.
