What are the reasons that psychotherapy is often perceived to be of value by the client and/or the therapist, even if the client has actually not improved by objective measures?
Psychotherapy can be defined as the use of psychological interventions in order to help overcome problems and bring changes.
The reason psychotherapy is often perceived to be of value by the client and/or the therapist even if the client hasn't improved by objective measures is because psychotherapy is often insight oriented. This means that there leads to an increase in awareness in the client about his/her problem which doesnt always necessarily culminate to objective changes. But this awareness and insight in itself is valuable for the client and the therapist. Therefore psychotherapy is considered to be of value.
