Explain how geography has contributed to the development of diversity in the context of different cultures. Draw on at least two of the readings from this week. Provide an example of a specific population and describe how the population was diversified through geographical drivers. These can include politics/wars, land formations, trade, population migration, and so forth. Your post should be a minimum of 250 words.

Initially, particular cultures developed according to particular physical landscape and over time these cultures exert their influence over time on that landscape. Also attributes like climate, landforms, natural vegetation, water bodies affect culture that develops around them immensely. With purpose of survival human and animals react and adjust with the environmental conditions that encounter, developing patterns of behaviour and customs alongside. Interaction of living beings with physical environment is the key to evolution of a culture in any geographical area.

To give examples from recent news- Britain has realised critical threat from use of plastic and for the cause as many as 60 music festivals are coming together to ban plastic use from their sites- thus probing a way to a plastic free culture which will be very positive for geography. ( Theguardian.com) .

Another example is construction for Europe’s tallest residential towers being built in London due to scarcity of homes –However this proposed project that involves a geographical change is being postponed by Brexit.-as reported by the NLA Chair-Peter Murray

India is a good example of population diversification. Partition of India in 1947 (partition was put forth in Indian Independence Act 1947 which also resulted in dissolution of British Rule) led to the creation of two independent dominions, India and Pakistan. The dominion of India today is the Republic of India, and the Dominion of Pakistan today is the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the people’s republic of Bangladesh. The country which in past was one is now divided and have extremely different cultures and ethnicity.
