4) Explain how people and societies can come to believe that something that is actually culturally constructed is "natural" or "normal"?
Something which is culturally constructed is the product of society. Culture has been constructed by the people of the society. Culture defines the mode of living of a group of people. It also stands for the arts, architecture, heritage, language, beliefs, customs, traditions, and anything related to “collective human intellectual achievement”. Culture is a part and parcel of human life. If there will be human life, there will be culture. Human life has given birth to a mode of living, a consistency that has given rise to culture. So, anything that is culturally constructed is natural or normal. For example, pop culture is natural and normal. It can be comprehended as the modern popular culture which is disseminated through mass media. Young people are the representatives and drivers of pop culture. This culture has been popularized by young people, there likes and dislikes. It reflects the tastes of a group of individuals called the young generation.
Here, it is important to understand that people's characteristic behaviors, their thoughts, feelings, emotions, etc, reflect in one's culture, thereby making a product of the society or a group of people culturally constructed and natbehaural. As human behavior is natural, anything that reflects human behavior is also natural. This makes any product of culture natural and normal. Human life has given rise to a set of practices, beliefs, and traditions that prevail in a society. Human activities give birth to a set of practices that are collectively termed as culture and human activities being normal and natural in turn make a product of the society natural or normal.
