Homework Answers

Answer #1

Girls show a preference for dolls and boys seem to prefer trucks due to the existing gender roles in our society, based on which they are socialised. Parents typically purchase toys that are linked to specific gender roles and children learn to associate these play objects with their gender. This is further reinforced when they observe their peers also displaying the same tendencies. This is thus the result of the environment as these preferences are created in line with existing gender roles and stereotypes.
