Answer #1

Ethnocentrism is harmful to society because cultural ethnocentrism is also known as cultural ignorance. It compares and makes judgements about other culture on the basis of their own cultural standards and perceives only their own culture as the correct and authentic way of living. Such as Indian people mainly use hand to eat food so they find it irrelevant and unnecessary to find in other cultures such as western culture to eat from the fork, knives, and spoons etc. Ethnocentrism may lead to develop stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination among various cultures.
