•What are ways in which we use nonverbal behavior to make person judgments? Facial judgements, gestures, paralinguistics, proxemics, eye gaze
We may not always make judgments based on verbal behaviour. Non-verbal behaviour gives away a lot more. Like they say, actions speak louder than words. When we meet a person, even if it is a passer-by, we tend to observe their non-verbal behaviour like facial expressions, body language, eye gaze and etcetera. For instance, you are at the supermarket and there is a long queue for billing, you are waiting for your turn. The lady standing before you, constantly keeps looking at her watch, then sighs, rolls her eyes, her facial expressions suggests that she is exasperated. You figure out that the woman is in a rush and that she is just too annoyed with the long queue. She didn't have to verbally tell you, but her non-verbal behaviour explained it all.
