Answer #1

Existentialism in philosophy is dismissal of abstractness to hide the vices of human nature and emphasis on the subjective reality of human nature. It emphasizes on the importance on subjective choices according to the various situations and contexts by an individual. It gives importance to individual freedom to choose for themselves.

Kierkegaard is considered as the father of existentialism. He has given three stage of existentialism in an individual's life as:

  • First stage of life is in which an individual pursues their aesthetics, their senses to make life choices and decisions. They are indulged in making choices for the comforts of their five senses.
  • Indulging in activities that satisfies their senses creates boredom in individuals, that may lead some to dissatisfaction with life and they proceed towards suicide. Those who overcome this situation, chooses the path of morality, the path of good and bad. They make choices on the basis of their morality.
  • This the third stage, very reach this stage, where they choose to take a leap of faith and align themselves to the life of Christ. They just follow Christ's principle in every aspect of their life, without giving any importance to morality.
