Prochaska identifies five stages of behavior change in the transtheoretical model and applies this model to varied populations. Which two of these applications have the greatest significance to you as a doctoral researcher? Why?
The Transtheoretical Model (Prochaska & DiClemente, 1983; Prochaska, DiClemente, & Norcross, 1992) is an integrative, biopsychosocial model to conceptualize the process of intentional behavior change.
so the two applications which greatest significance to me is ACTION STAGE AND MAINTENANCE STAGE as a doctoral researcher. because the action stage explains about the individual's thought pattern of considering the problem as a problem which needed immediate attention. In this stage the individual takes action. Action can take various forms. thus the ample number of research can be done on measuring the intensity to which the individuals are ready for actions, factors causing them to engage in action phase and so on.
In maintenance stage an individual has successfully changed their behavior and is reaping the rewards. thus in this stage the individual has successfully maintained the change in the behaviour for more than 6 months and if they continue to see reward out of it or being reinforced the chances are high they will maintain it which eventually turns into intrinsic motivaiton and as a habit of person.
so there can be many research done on the effect on their social, personal, professional life due to the change in behaviour, psychological aspects contributing to maintain the change in their behaviour, etc
